Description: Biosphere-Atmosphere-Hydrosphere Interactions in a Changing Global Environment REU provides a truly interdisciplinary and hands-on experience in field biology and atmospheric science. Students engage with all phases of research, from hypothesis formulation and data gathering to analysis, interpretation, and communication of scientific findings. During this 9 week program (June 23 - August 22, 2015), students will: work closely with a selected mentor, design, conduct, analyze, and report on a research project of their own and participate in special workshops and group discussions designed to provide the philosophical bases and technical tools needed to carry out scientific research. REU students must be of at least junior status by the fall term following their REU participation. Students receive a stipend of $5,000, travel and research supplies allowance, and room and board expenses at UMBS. Underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.
