Description: As part of its Cancer Biology Training Program, the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center provides exposure to cancer research for highly motivated and talented college undergraduates. This program gives the successful applicants an opportunity to explore potential careers in the field of cancer research. Internships are aimed at students who are completing their sophomore or junior undergraduate year this spring. This internship seeks to expose college students to cutting-edge cancer research including: genetics, stem cells, biomarkers, DNA damage and repair. At the end of the internship program, each intern will be asked to give a short presentation on their work. Applicants must have maintained a grade average of 3.0 or higher and preference will be given to students that have demonstrated previous laboratory research experience. This is a 10 week program and it runs from June 1 - Aug 7, 2015. Selected students will receive a $5500 stipend, payable in 3 installments and $500 travel stipend and they are responsible for their own housing and travel arrangements.
