Description: The Virginia Commonwealth University offers the Summer Student Program in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Public Health Epidemiology. The School of Medicine will offer an integrated series of seminars and workshops that range from local to global issues in infectious diseases. Studies are related to infectious diseases from basic science (pathogenic microbiology) to applied science (epidemiology). Accepted students will be paired with a mentor to conduct research in the areas of: microbiology, clinical research, or epidemiology. The program accepts undergraduates interested in research and medicine students (M1 and M2). Research ares are in the fields of Microbiology, Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases. Applicants are required to upload of a personal statement, an unofficial transcripts from all colleges attended, 2 letters of reference and a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater. The program runs from 25 May - 18 July. Participants receive a stipend of $2,500 and paid housing.
