Description: The University of Michigan Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) offers outstanding undergraduates underrepresented in their field of study the opportunity to conduct intensive research. SROP Participants work with faculty mentors either on an individual basis or as part of a research team. In addition, all participants engage in a series of academic, professional, and personal development seminars, and culminate their experience by presenting their work at a research symposium. Participants are expected to participate full-time during the 8 week program (May 28 to August 1, 2015). SROP is held on the U-M Ann Arbor campus. Undergraduates who will be entering their Junior or Senior years are eligible for participation in the program. Yo will also need to have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA, have an interest in pursuing a doctoral degree in one of the Rackham Graduate Programs. For the 8 weeks of duration you will receive a $4,000 stipend, $500 round-trip airfare, University housing in a residence hall, including room and board (students will be responsible for weekend meals only), GRE preparation course at no additional cost, and a certificate of completion. Participants will give a poster presentation of their work at a U-M symposium near the completion of the program in July. In addition, there will be numerous opportunities to network and socialize with faculty, students, and staff at sponsored events through the summer including a faculty-student welcome event and a final reception.
