Description: The Department of Physiology and Biophysics Summer Undergraduate Research Program is designed for outstanding students with majors in biology, chemistry, physics or related disciplines. Students will carry out a research project under the close guidance of a faculty member during the summer months (8 to 10 weeks). Participants select a laboratory and work together with a faculty member to obtain hands-on research experience in biomedical sciences. Students are paid a stipend of $3,500 dollars for the eight week program and housing support is also available. During the last week of the SURP program, the students present their SURP project to the faculty of the Department. A faculty committee selects the top two students for reception of the SURP Research Recognition Awards.
